Extreme Cold Warning In Effect


An extreme cold waning remains in effect this morning.

 

Overnight the windchill factor dropped below -40 for most of Westman.

 

Meteorologist with Environment Canada Justin Shaer tells CKLQ we will stay cold for most of the day.

 

"Getting close to noon probably before temperatures rise enough to end the warning."

 

Shaer says the warning will likely be re-issued overnight as the forecast again calls for a windchill below -40.

 

The same came can be said for Friday.

 

He does add that dressing in layers and avoiding any prolonged time outside is key to preventing any injury associated with the cold.

 

There is also another tip according to Shaer, "drink plenty of water. Cold weather does dehydrates people a lot, it's very dry air so it sucks a lot of moisture out of your skin."
