Council Denies Variance to Expand Mobile Home Park

An expansion for a trailer park will not be in the cards for the Glendale Mobile Homes Park.

City Council voted down a variance in order to build three more mobile homes at 1430 1st Street North.

Manager for the park Darlene Johnston tells CKLQ the proposal did not hold enough weight to pass.

Council deemed that there was too many challenges.

Councillor Jeff Fawcett said that it would set a dangerous precedent.

"For the long-term use there it was going to cause us headaches, it's zone is commercial, it's long-term use will be commercial and we would be perpetuating about something that exists there right now, but probably won't be there,"

Fawcett said that there was too many red flags.

Johnston says that they tried their best to pass the proposal, hoping they could develop the area.
