Wheaties Fall Flat Against Warriors

The Brandon Wheat Kings came out flat on Tuesday in a 3-1 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Brandon was out shot 12-1 in the first period and trailed 1-0 after Jayden Halbgewachs notched his 43rd of the year past an otherwise stellar Logan Thompson.

The Warriors would continue to dominate in the 2nd period outshooting Brandon 17-7.

The teams would exchange goals in the middle frame as Brett Howden and Stelio Mattheos found the back of the net.

Despite being heavily outplayed and outshot, the Wheat Kings trailed by just one heading into the third period.

Brandon would fail to convert on both their power plays and before they could pull Thompson for the extra attacker, the Warriors would seal it.

With less than 2:00 to go in the 3rd, Yan Kohmenko snap home his 13th of the year to put the game out of reach.

Logan Thompson would finish the night with 31 saves, while Zach Sawchenko had to make just 15 stops for the win.

Brandon will quickly look to hit the reset button as they take on Prince Albert Wednesday.

Game time is 7:00, with the CKLQ pre-game show set to begin at 6:30.
