Southwest Wins Final Game; AAA Midget Playoffs Set

Southwest Cougars' Riley Wallace stopped 55 shots in the last game of the AAA midget season.

Wallace backstopped his team to a 3-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Southwest was already eliminated from playoff contention and the wheat kings were fighting for 5th place in the league.

Cougars' forward Bryce Young scored two goals, one being an empty-net, to give the cougars one last win on the season.

Lynden McCallum scored the only goal against Wallace and the Cougars in the third period.

The Wheat Kings were let off the hook though as they managed to stay in 5th place, helping themselves the night before with a 2-0 win over the Winnipeg Wild.

The playoffs are set for the Manitoba AAA Hockey League, as Brandon will play the Pembina Valley Hawks.

Winnipeg Wild will take on Parkland, Yellowhead playing Central Plains and Winnipeg Thrashers versus Eastman.

The playoffs will start on Friday, with all four matchups kicking off.

All matchups will play on the same day throughout the playoffs.

All series will be a best of five series.
