Oil Caps Eliminated by Flyers

The Virden Oil Capitals have been eliminated from the MJHL playoffs.

Virden fell 4-1 to the Winkler Flyers in game 6 of the quarter-finals.

Holding the lead after the 1st Coach Troy Leslie tells CKLQ the team just couldn't keep the energy going.

"Just like the series it was really hard fought and we couldn't get things going in the 3rd when we needed to."

Leslie added the team should be proud of they way they battled back from 2 down in the series.

"I was really proud of their effort. The 7 overtimes took it's toll on us, but it did for them too, their a really good team."

Jeran Knorr had the lone goal Sunday while Riley McVeigh stopped 39 of 43 shots.

It's the second straight year the Oil Caps have been eliminated in the Quarter-Finals.
