CWB Election Eligibility Print E-mail
Not just anybody can run in the Canadian Wheat Board's election.
Coordinator Ian Craven says you must farm in a particular area.



Likewise, Craven says to vote, you must be a producer in the district that you're voting in.
He says voter turnout in 2008 was 52%.

The Canadian Wheat Board's election period is now underway.
Election Coordinator Ian Craven says representatives from five districts will be elected by producers.



The nomination period closes October 15th and results will be announced December 12th.

Hopes High for Housing in Neepawa Print E-mail
The town of Neepawa is trying its best to create more housing.
Mayor Bob Durston tells Q-Country News they have two areas in town where they want to rezone land to residential.
He says if the land were to be rezoned it could accomodate more housing.



As many as 40 to 60 residential units could be created.
 
RM of Langford without water Print E-mail

Residents in the R.M. of Langford on the Langford water distribution system will be without water Wednesday morning.
This is because Manitoba Hydro will be doing work in the area.
Water will be shut off from approximately 9a.m. until 12p.m.
They apologize for any inconvenience.

 
Extra compost pick-up day Wednesday Print E-mail
If you are a part of the compost pilot project in Brandon an extra pick up day is happening Wednesday.
The city is asking you to have your compost bin out by 7a.m.
This additional pick up is for this cycle only.
After Wednesday, the next one will be on September 13th and remain on Day 3's until the end of October.
